Master Practitioner Diploma
in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
SDS’ Master Practitioner Diploma In Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is Approved by the British Psychological Society Learning Centre for the purposes of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
In the last few years, the dialogue around therapy has radically changed, with CBT becoming a “must have” therapeutic approach for all therapists and counsellors. Already in the employed sector, jobs specify the need for “CBT Therapists” rather than any other and in a private sector, some insurance companies have already begun specifying that they would only fund patients who see CBT Therapists.
When the UK government decides to invest around half a BILLION pounds in a particular therapeutic approach (CBT), you can be certain it’s a “game changer”.
This BPS LC Approved Diploma course is designed to provide you with a comprehensive skills-based training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy covering in total 484 hours of training via different media: direct tutor training, video demonstrations, post-course reading with online tests, case formulation submissions etc. Through these means, the course enables students to achieve a proficiency in CBT skills and receive a Master Practitioner Diploma in CBT (MPD CBT) at the end.
The structure of the Diploma is modular. Each module is designed to be an individual self-contained course on a chosen topic. All modules are designed in such a way that they can be taken in any order or individually.
Individual course modules are open access. However the Diploma as a whole is designed for those with a first degree and is taught at a university post-graduate level.
We allow you to complete the modules of the course at your OWN PACE according to your personal circumstances and at a very competitive cost that can be spread over a period you choose.
Although, the order of the modules is flexible, it is highly recommended (but not essential) that you attend BPS Approved SDS’ “CBT: Introductory Course” as early as possible. Subsequent modules will extend skills and knowledge covered within this course.
Other courses for which it would be strongly advisable to complete as soon as possible are the “Case Formulation” and “Socratic Questioning” Modules. Specific case formulations form part of the self directed skills element of the Diploma and hence it is very sensible to attend the taught Case Formulation module first so that you are equipped with all the necessary skills to work on individual case formulations attached to further modules. Equally, Socratic Questioning is such a fundamental skills based element of CBT which requires extensive practice, attendance early on for this module would be beneficial.
Our course tutors are all Accredited CBT Therapists and/or Accredited CBT Tutors, are extensively experienced both as practitioners and CBT Trainers. The course Director is Paul Grantham, Consultant Clinical Psychologist.
