Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Considering the independent route to being an Accredited CBT Therapist?
Let SDS guide you.

SDS Ltd is the ONLY independent training organisation following the British Association of Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) Core Curriculum Reference Document (2010) for Accreditation as a CBT therapist, and providing training covering full minimum hours requirements.

By opting for training with us you can be confident in making the right choice.

Why should I want to become an Accredited CBT Therapist?
When the UK government decides to invest around half a BILLION pounds in a particular therapeutic approach (CBT), you can be certain it’s a “game changer”.

The dialogue around therapy has radically changed over the last few years, with CBT becoming a “must have” therapeutic approach for all therapists and counsellors. Already in the employed sector, jobs specify the need for “CBT Therapists” rather than any other and privately, some insurance companies have already begun specifying they will only fund patients who see “Accredited CBT Therapists”.

How do I become an Accredited CBT Therapist?
Accreditation for CBT is only provided by the British Association of Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). This is typically obtained by completing a BABCP Accredited CBT University course. Such courses are limited in number, competition for places within them is very steep, and funding approaching £10,000 (and rising) is usually required.

There is however a little known alternative route to Accreditation which is the independent route.
SDS has designed its modular Diploma in CBT to enable completion of both the QUANTITY of training and supervision and the CONTENT of training required for BABCP Accreditation as specified within the BABCP’s Core Curriculum Reference Document.

The criteria for these can be found on the BABCP website.

Our course tutors are all Accredited CBT Therapists and/or Accredited CBT Tutors, are extensively experienced both as practitioners and CBT Trainers. The course Director is Paul Grantham, Consultant Clinical Psychologist.

We allow you to complete the modules of the course at your OWN PACE according to your personal circumstances and at a cost substantially lower than most university courses that can be spread over a period you choose.

Finally, we can “hand hold” you through the subsequent process of BABCP Accreditation to enable you to be an “Accredited CBT Therapist”.
