The Skills Development Service Ltd and Fulfilment of Professional CPD Requirements
for Accreditation and Registration Purposes

All professional and regulatory bodies in the health, social and psychotherapy fields
have CPD requirements for those registered with them and which require registrants
or members to demonstrate their fulfillment of CPD requirements.
All SDS courses incorporate a variety of learning methods to support CPD requirements
of different professional bodies in the UK. Evidence of attendance at SDS courses
has been submitted and accepted as part of CPD submissions for:

Health Professions Council (HPC) covers registration of a number of professions
ranging from Art Therapists through to Psychologists and has specific CPD requirements
for continuing registration. These requirements include demonstrations of “a mixture
of different kinds of activity”. During audits there is a requirement to demonstrate
how such CPD activities have linked to registrants’ ongoing practice.
All SDS courses incorporate different learning methods to
support the HPC focus on breadth of activities. Evidence of attendance at SDS courses
has been submitted and accepted as part of CPD submissions for HPC
re-registration.

The Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) requires psychologists to accrue
120 credits over a three year period at an average of 40 credits per year. 30 CPD
credits can be accrued from attendance at CPD events and 10 credits accrued from
showing evidence of integrating the learning acquired.
Evidence of attendance at SDS courses has been submitted
and accepted as part of CPD submissions for PSI.

|
Federation of Drug & Alcohol Professionals (FDAP) in DANOS 2012 states that
“All frontline workers (including volunteers) should be subject to ongoing CPD based
on their role profiles” and that “line managers should be undertaking, or have completed,
a training course in line management”.
All SDS courses are linked to and support specific DANOS
competencies and evidence of attendance at SDS courses has been submitted and accepted
as part of CPD submissions by workers within the appraisals.

Institute For Learning (IFL) requires members to demonstrate at least 30
hours each year on professional development.
Evidence of attendance at SDS courses has been submitted
and accepted as part of CPD submissions for IFL.
|
|
|
British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) requires counsellors
and psychotherapists to complete a minimum of 30 hours CPD for continued accreditation.
Although the BACP has dropped its stipulation of types of CPD activity, it lists
“Short Courses on Professional Issues” and “Seminars and Conferences” amongst its
list of “types of activity that would be acceptable as CPD”.
Evidence of attendance at SDS courses has been submitted
and accepted as part of CPD submissions for BACP re-accreditation.

General Social Care Council (GSCC) checks for evidence of CPD of 15 days
over 3 years to meet the requirements for social workers and that “failure to meet
these conditions may be considered misconduct”. There is a similar requirement of
NVQ qualified staff to evidence 3 days of CPD every year. It is the personal responsibility
of all workers to record what they have learned from training, development and qualifications
they have undertaken.

and accepted as part of CPD submissions for GSCC re-registration.

The Scottish Social Care Council (SSCC), Welsh Social Care Council (WSCC) and NISCC
(Northern Ireland Social care Council) operate similar requirements and
SDS courses have been submitted and accepted as part of CPD submissions by all three
bodies.

|
The British Association For Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP)
requires Accredited CBT Therapists to demonstrate “a balance of attendance at symposia/lectures/
conferences/seminars, and skills based workshops/courses, as well as provision of
any of these, for a minimum of 30 hours per year” as part of its requirement for
re-accreditation.
Evidence of attendance at SDS courses has been submitted
and accepted as part of CPD submissions for BABCP re-registration.

|
The Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) requires nurses and midwife prescribers
“take responsibility for their own CPD” and that every 3 years they must “ declare
that they have satisfied PREP requirements [in part] by undertaking at least 35
hours of learning relevant to their practice.” in order to maintain NMC registration.
NMC also states that “Where possible CPD should be undertaken within a multi-disciplinary
context.”
Evidence of attendance at SDS courses has been submitted
and accepted as part of CPD submissions for NMC re-registration.
